Alaska took advantage of San Miguel’s poor first half shooting then leaned on Willie Miller and LA Tenorio’s two big three-pointers to escape with an 85-74 triumph Saturday night at the Panabo City Multipurpose Tourism, Cultural and Sports Center in Davao.

Coming off a triple-double effort in the Aces’ 99-83 win over Barako Bull, Miller had another monster game for the Aces with 25 points and nine rebounds.

His crucial trey in the final four minutes sparked a short but telling 6-0 Alaska run for a 75-68 lead that all but sealed the outcome of the game.

Their second straight win pushed the Aces in the early lead of the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup. The Beermen fell to 0-2 overall and at the bottom of the 11-team field.

Shooting just 28 percent in the first half to trail by 10, the Beermen came back strong in the final two quarters behind Dorian Peña and Arwind Santos’ exploits.

A Santos jumper with 5:45 to go had the Beermen threatening at 69-68.

But then Miller buried a three-pointer and Tenorio followed it up with another bomb from downtown, enabling the Aces to up the lead to seven and take control of the game.

Tenorio was the other Aces in double figures with 18 markers.

Santos finished with 15 points together with Dondon Hontiveros to lead the way for the still winless Beermen.
